Statistics say that adoption in the United States peaked in 2004. Since that time the number has almost been cut in half, 22,990 in 2004 to 12,753 in 2009. 77% of Americans claim to be Christian. UNICEF estimated that in 2006 there were 143,000,000 orphans in the world. There are 309,000,000 people in the US. That means that 238,000,000 identify themselves as Christan. If 1/3 of these (79,000,000) Christians families would adopt one child the number of orphans in the world would drop by half. I understand not all are called to adopt. I also know that if God has not called you to adopt, don't do it. These numbers just give you an idea of the need that exists.
God may not be calling you to adopt, but He is calling all of us to do something. Our hearts desire is to not only adopt but be able to establish an adoption fund for others that need help. What is God calling you to do?
To you who is waiting for us to be your parents,
I am asking our family and friends to pray with us for you and our adoption journey. There are many hills for us to clime over. We are seriously praying about who you will be and if God is leading us to pick you as a waiting child or if God is calling us to let the Philippine government "pick you". Either way you are God's selection for us. Soon we will begin our homestudy and fundraising. If we select you as a waiting child we will have to have all of the money raised within a year rather than 2-3 years. As with all things in mommy and daddy's lives you are in God's hands. What He wills, will come to pass.
We love you more each day.
Love Daddy
